Interesting, I'm hoping this will showcase many of the horrific war crimes Japan committed against China in the lead up to and during WWII, which seem to have been all but erased from their history books. A lot of Japanese people seem to have no idea about this stuff but the Chinese still remember.

Leo Aestron • 1 year ago

And for those who misunderstood, just because it is an anime doesn't means it is from Japan.
This is made by China's anime company.
Gogo accepts everything that is anime no matter the language.

And, yeah. What u have just seen is a truth. Also, just because they are from the country that is in war and slaughtering people of ur country, doesn't mean every single one of them are bad people. Look at Sunahara family as an example, they were one of those who opposed their own government's decision of war, that's why they get exiled to China.
There will always be people going against a war launched by their country no matter the era. So, please don't look at every Russian and Chinese like they are bad people just because of how their government are and how toxic Chinese kids are on social media and irl, how most Chinese merchants out there in China will scam you when you buy their stocks. For there's always 1pure even with 9 corrupted out of those 10.

3. A country's past isn't a good reason for you to hate that country and their people. As time pass, people and government will always change, the same goes to ideology. Clinging to the past will only make you a fool.

YOSHIDA MAN • 8 months ago

" Clinging to the past will only make you fool" I hope you never actually say this to someone whose nation was subjected to the unimaginable horrors of war.

Leo Aestron • 8 months ago

I wouldn't mind saying that to them in their face if I believe it is true.
Besides, that is my ancestor's homeland there. I can grieve for the misfortune happened to my racial people, but I don't want to put those blame on the new generation who had nothing to do with their ancestor's crime.

The belief of a child should be responsible for their parents crime is a bullshit to me. I don't live by that even though my parents are just ordinary citizens who didn't commit crime. Growing up in a Chinese family and hearing some stuff like that from people around me can be irritating to me, including "Children shouldn't mind themself with adult's matter" is one of it pissed me off.

YOSHIDA MAN • 8 months ago

I don't know how you interpreted my comment there for you to write about your beliefs principles and ideologies.

I was trying to convey that you are being inconsiderate, thoughtless, heedless and complete ignorant person there.

Leo Aestron • 8 months ago

Maybe saying this make me sounds like a horrible person, but I can only be considerate of what I understand.

But only weebs watch anime. So they are only educating the weebs who don't go out anyway. Truth is they are trying to educate the english speaking weebs outside Jap.

Esenpai • 1 year ago

It isn't just weebs that watch anime from overseas these days. Not expecting this to reach a large audience either way but you never know what it can lead to...I think it's good that it exists at all.

Magmus96 • 1 year ago

I didn't expect the anime to be so good, a mix of Japanese and Chinese language and culture. Was expecting copper but found gold! πŸ‘Œ

This chinese studio, lost over 9000 social credits.

Esenpai • 1 year ago

It's shining a light on war crimes committed by Imperial Japan against China. I don't see why this would go against the CCP's rhetoric, it's not like it's going to talk about the CCP's crimes against humanity.

MeguminExplosion • 1 year ago

No, but it would promote uprising. the oppressed can fight back and you know in China they dont like that. The censor hong kong protests and anything related to tiaman square that was my thought process.

Esenpai • 1 year ago

I don't think it would because of the perspective it's framed from. As things stand the CCP is positioning itself as the rightful rulers of Taiwan which Japan is tentatively in support of. From the CCP's POV it would only serve to strengthen their stance against western allies supporting Taiwan especially considering Japan's invasion of Formosa (as it was called). The masses can be simple like that.

That said, I doubt this anime is trying to instill anything like that. I see it, so far, more as just a piece on and important historical period of events that have been largely forgotten today but, who knows, I could be wrong.

Sovauthority • 1 year ago

There's no such thing as the CCP. It's called the CPC. Calling it the CCP is like calling the USA the "States of the Founding America's"..
If the West easily disseminates a lie like that, imagine what kind of other lies they spread (The US purposely changed it from CPC to CCP in order to disrespect it). You should really visit China and see for yourself just how "cruel" they are...
As for this animated series, revolution is war.. The US Blue Coats didn't really fight with Geneva Convention style honor either...

Esenpai • 1 year ago

I have no respect for the CCP anyway so I'll continue to call it as such. You can deny the CCP's crimes against humanity as much as you want but it's so obvious that it is worth me arguing with you over it. I also can't tell if you're defending the actions of Japan in this time period or not...

YOSHIDA MAN • 7 months ago

I truly appreciate how they wanted Japanese characters to speak Japanese .I am no China man or Japan man but that Voice acting was really bad infact it sucked lol.

Voice actors could have done better job here. They didn't bother to speak Japanese with Japanese accent lol.

AnimeReaper • 1 year ago

Wait so am i right in saying that the chinese were prosecuted in their own country while the Japanese enjoyed the riches?? If someone could be generous to sum it up for me i would be grateful

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Damn, that's some disgusting, evil shii that went on!! Guess Japan had an evil side back then, committing such atrocities smh.

Shouma • 1 year ago

Look up the Nanjing(or Nanking) Massacre, there's a few videos on YouTube on "comfort women" from Korea during the Japanese occupation. During this time, the Japanese had borderline eugenic beliefs(I say borderline because they idealized how great ancient China was, and thought themselves to the be true successors, not genetically, but intellectually and to an extent culturally).

What led up to this belief was the reformation that happened in the 19th century(1900s) which was fueled when they(Japan) sent their best scholars to western countries to see why they are so successful. Modern Shintoism was born because of this to help bring the nation together (nationalism). In Japan the Buddhists were persecuted by this new emerging ideology (similar to what will happen later in China when they attacked religious institutions, countless Buddhist and even Confucian artifacts/buildings were lost during the early 20th century China). Look up Haibutsu Kishaku for information of Buddhist persecution in Japan.

Unsurprisingly, China has committed very similar atrocities as Japan, though the Japanese soldiers in the 20th century were particularly cruel, similar to Vikings and nazis.

Thankfully Japan has reformed itself (largely due to American occupation), but there still wackos who think they're genetically superior but most of them are unsurprisingly unattractive lol. Sadly, China continues to commit atrocities against its minority(especially the Uyghurs) population and One Road initiative is suspicious.

Other atrocities done by the Japanese in the 20th century,
Burma(Death) Railway (in modern day Myanmar). 1940-1943
Gando Massacre (of Korean residents in Jiandao, China) 1921
Kantō Massacre (of Korean residents in Kanto, Japan) 1923
Kaimingjie Germ Weapon Attack(port in Ningbo, China) 1940
Manila massacre (Manila, Philippines) 1945
Zhejiang-Jiangxi Campaign 1942
Bataan Death March (Philippines) 1942

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Thanks for the info, some I already looked up and knew about, but you definitely gave me a little more detail. I remember seeing an interview from an ex surgeon Chinese guy who exposed illegal medical practices of a group of minorities in China who were being organ harvested and had to do it to even ones that were ALIVE (maybe the Uyghurs people but don't quote me on that as 100% fact)!! He eventually became a whistleblower and ruined his career, fearing for his life had to be smuggled into another country (I forget which one) and there till this day. He sacrificed his livelihood, his career and even his life to expose evil practices going on hidden from the masses smh. So much death, lies and blood money.

Try living in Brooklyn, New York, where it's become mostly Chinese now everywhere instead of the mostly Italian and Irish and Puerto Rican it used to be before. Hear that every single day, not to mention their Xenophobia and lack of desire to learn English.
But, on the second hand, imagine all the Chinese viewers not watching this series because they think "Yuck, Japanese language" like we think of Mandarin. Many Chinese people still hold a grudge over the Japanese for killing 20 million of their people (though ironically Russian's do not hold a grudge for German's killing 28 million of their people).. This is mostly from people I've talked to.

Thought blacks used to be there (Bk NY) before all them though??

Now we know why China owns Taiwan and Japan owns eastern China. 😌🌈
